Edmonton crash driver critical after stabbing

A man is critically ill in hospital after being stabbed as he fled the scene of a car crash in north London.

The driver was involved in an accident with another car in Meridian Way, Edmonton, in the early hours.

As the man, believed to be in his 40s, tried to leave the scene he was assaulted and stabbed by the occupants of a third car which was not damaged.

He was taken to hospital where he has been treated for stab wounds and head injuries.

Police said a woman, who was driving the other car involved in the crash, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Meridian Way and Glover Drive remain closed and drivers have been advised to avoid the area.
