Man remanded over garden shooting in Clapham

A man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of another man who was shot dead in a garden in south-west London.

Isaiah Bovell, 21, was found with gunshot wounds to his head in Plummer Road, Clapham, on Thursday morning.

Paramedics treating him were forced to flee after hearing what they thought to be shots. When they returned Mr Bovell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Raymond Andes, 39, from Clapham, is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 22 July.

He was charged with Mr Bovell's murder on Saturday and remanded at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court.

There was no application for bail.

Witnesses are understood to have flagged down ambulance crews who attended the scene on Plummer Road and entered the garden.

It is thought the gunfire paramedics thought they heard may have been the sound of a window being smashed.

A 27-year-old woman who was arrested in the area and held at a south London police station has been released without charge.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's Operation Trident, which deals with gun crime in London's black community, are investigating the death.
