West Ham's Manuel da Costa faces sex assault trial
West Ham defender Manuel da Costa is to stand trial over an alleged sexual assault at a nightclub in east London.
The 24-year-old Portuguese player, who lives in Newham, east London, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
He pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman in Ilford last October but admitted one charge of common assault. He was released on conditional bail.
Mr da Costa's trial is due to begin at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 12 September and is expected to last four days.
He was charged in January after a woman in her 20s reported an incident at a nightclub.
