Boy, 16, stabbed in east London takeaway

A 16-year-old boy is in a stable condition in hospital after being stabbed inside a takeaway in east London.

The teenager was chased by three or four youths into the EFC takeaway in Poplar, Tower Hamlets, on Saturday night, police said.

He was stabbed several times in the attack and remains in a stable condition at an east London hospital.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

'Friends scattered'

Police said the boy and his friends were chased after being approached in the street by one of the attackers.

The victim ran along Burdett Road and into the takeaway, where he suffered stab wounds in the attack.

Police were called to the scene at 2125 BST.

Det Con Christina Jessah, of Scotland Yard's Tower Hamlets violent crime unit, said the local youngster's friends scattered as he was chased by the gang.
