Southgate Asda store evacuated during fire

A supermarket in north London was evacuated when a fire broke out overnight.

About 35 nightshift workers had to leave the Asda store in Chase Side, Southgate, when the blaze started at about 0300 BST.

Four crews were sent to deal with the fire which had taken hold in the roof of the building.

The fire was brought under control within two hours and a thermal-imaging camera was used to search the store.

The store was not due to open on Sunday.
