Met Police reveals 121 sex offenders are "missing"
The whereabouts of 121 registered sex offenders are "unknown" to the Metropolitan Police (Met), a Freedom of Information request has revealed.
Some of the offenders have been "missing" for as many as 14 years. The Met believes 48 have been living outside the UK.
Police said they lost track of offenders after they failed to notify the police of their change of address.
All 121 have been classified as "wanted" by the Met.
A statement from the Met said: "One hundred and twenty-one RSOs (are) currently recorded as wanted because their whereabouts are unknown and they have failed to comply with notification requirements.
"All 121 RSOs have been circulated nationally as wanted on the Police National Computer.
"Seventy-two have been circulated through other forces and bodies."
