Solicitor attacked in unprovoked assault in Bermondsey
A solicitor is in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted in an unprovoked attack by four men in south-east London.
He was walking home from a night out with his wife in Frean Street, Bermondsey, when he was kicked by two people on bikes on Saturday night.
The 49-year-old was then punched and kicked to the ground by four men, leaving him unconscious.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the assault.
Detectives have released CCTV images of the suspects, who they believe are aged between 18 and 20.
They said the four had been seen cycling aggressively on the pavement in the area before the attack.
The victim is in hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
Det Insp Simon Day said: "This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public who has sustained a serious injury.
"There would have been many people in this area at the time of the attack and I appeal for any witnesses to come forward and assist police in catching those responsible before they attack someone again."
