West End theatre evacuated after smoke discovered

An audience was evacuated from a theatre in London's West End after smoke was found before a performance.

London Fire Brigade said 500 people were evacuated from the New London Theatre where the play War Horse was due to be performed.

Fire crews found no fire at the theatre on Parker Street and the play went ahead after a 45-minute delay

The fire brigade said the smoke came from an electrical motor which had overheated, but no damage was caused.
