Man killed as car collides with bus in Manor Park

A 29-year-old man has died and another man was seriously injured after the car they were in hit a double-decker bus in east London.

The car, carrying five people, hit the bus in the early hours of Saturday on High Street North in Manor Park.

The woman driver of the car, 22, was arrested on suspicion of driving while drunk and causing death by dangerous driving. She suffered minor injuries.

A girl in the car had minor injuries while the fifth person left the scene.

Appeal for witnesses

The crash happened just after midnight as the Ford Ka car was travelling north and the bus was travelling south, police said.

A man was declared dead at the scene while a 19-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 17-year-old girl in the car was found unconscious at the scene but she suffered only minor injuries.

The bus driver was taken to hospital but was not seriously hurt.

The driver of the car was questioned by officers before being released on bail until mid-August.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
