A silver car in which two balaclava-clad men are believed to have escaped after a man was shot dead in south-east London is being sought by police.

Witnesses reported seeing two masked men entering the car to flee from Langdale Road in Thornton Heath after Carlton Ned, 41, was shot in the chest.

Mr Ned died at the scene and a woman suffered minor injuries when two men opened fire at a property on 1 July.

The suspects travelled from Langdale Road towards London Road, police said.

No arrests have been made over the murder of Mr Ned, who officers believe was not the intended victim.

The masked men have been described as 5ft 9in and 5ft 2in in height with light brown skin.

Police said they know a silver Mercedes had travelled from London Road towards Stockwell, but are not clear whether it was the suspects car.

Det Ch Insp John Crossley said: "We need anyone who saw a silver vehicle travelling in Langdale Road, or who has information on the silver Mercedes seen in London Road, to come forward."
