Redbridge Magistrates' clerk Munir Patel due in court

A clerk at Redbridge Magistrates' Court has been accused of misconduct, the Metropolitan Police said.

Munir Patel, of Green Lane, Dagenham, east London, has been charged with misconduct in a public office and perverting the course of justice.

Mr Patel, 21, is due before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court later. Police also arrested a 30-year-old man.

The Ministry of Justice confirmed two members of staff from Redbridge Magistrates' Court has been suspended.

Mr Patel, an administrative clerk at the court, was arrested on Tuesday while the 30-year-old was detained on Wednesday.

The second man, who has since been bailed to return at a later date, was held on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and perverting the course of justice.
