The Europa Gym in Erith, south east London, provides weightlifting, martial arts, gymnastics and boxing facilities for local schoolchildren and athletes.

The gym has been threatened with closure over recent years because of rising rents but, thanks to generous donations from the community, its future has now been secured and the gym will be moving to a brand new purpose built location.

The new Europa Gym will also become an official training venue for the London 2012 volleyball squads.

Len Arnold owns the gym with his wife, Yvonne, and here he talks about running the gym through the good times and the bad.
