Ilford stabbing: Boy, 17, dies in party disturbance

A 17-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in a disturbance following a party in east London.

The teenager, who has been named as Kelvin Chibueze, from Croydon, south London, was stabbed in High Road, Ilford, at about 04:00 BST on Monday.

Forensics officers have been seen collecting evidence at the scene. A cordon has been put in place restricting access to the town centre.

The Metropolitan Police said no arrests have yet been made.

It is believed that two groups, made up of 15 to 20 people in total, were involved in a disturbance following a private party at a premises off Ilford High Road.

The argument spilled out into Ilford High Road and then into the car park next to Lidl and Fitness First, where it is believed the victim was stabbed.

'Bottles thrown'

London Ambulance Service attended the scene and discovered the boy who had been stabbed.

He was taken to the Royal London Hospital for surgery but died at about 13:00 BST.

Det Ch Insp John Macdonald said: "There were people shouting and bottles thrown in what is a busy area, even at that time of night.

"My appeal is to members of the public who may have seen what was going on to contact us and also anyone involved in these two groups to come forward and tell us what happened."

A post-mortem examination will take place on Wednesday in East Ham.
