A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a boy stabbed to death in a park in north London.

The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Enfield Magistrates' Court on Monday morning.

Leroy James, who was 14, had been found with a single stab wound in Ponders End Recreation Ground, Enfield, on Wednesday. He died at the scene.

A 15-year-old boy arrested on Thursday has been freed on bail, pending further inquiries, until mid-September.

Leroy, from Edmonton, north London, was found slumped against a climbing wall within the recreation ground.

The Metropolitan Police said he was in the park with friends before he was attacked.
