A fifth man has been arrested in connection with the carjack murder of garage owner Harjinder Singh Bhurji.

The man, aged 18, was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held at an east London police station.

Four men previously arrested in connection with the inquiry have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Mr Bhurji, 32, was stabbed to death in Ilford, east London, after refusing to hand over his keys.

He was sitting in his Mercedes talking to a female friend in Stoneleigh Road when a robber opened the passenger door and dragged the woman from the car.

The victim, from Ilford, tried to hide the car keys under his seat but the robber threatened to harm his friend if he did not hand them over.

He was stabbed as he tried to retrieve the keys before the thief drove off with the car in the early hours of Tuesday.

The car was found abandoned in Forest Glade, Chingford, east London, less than two hours later.
