Man held after Walthamstow police station fire
A man is being held in custody following an arson attack on a police station in east London.
The fire caused smoke damage to the ground floor at Walthamstow police station in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police said the building was empty at the time of the blaze.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of arson outside the building and was being held at an east London police station.
A police spokesman said: "When units arrived at the scene they realised smoke was coming from the building and there was a small fire inside."
The police station on Forest Road has been declared safe by the London Fire Brigade but the front counter will be closed on Tuesday.
