Man seriously hurt in Clapham High Street shooting

A man in his 20s was shot and seriously injured in a busy south London shopping street.

The victim was taken to hospital with "life-threatening injuries" after the shooting on Clapham High Street at about 21:40 BST.

The Metropolitan (Met) Police said some local roads had been closed while police investigated.

The Met's Trident Unit, which investigates gun crime in the capital's black communities, has been informed.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police got called at about 9.40pm after a male was shot on Clapham High Street.

"He had suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital. His injuries are being treated as life-threatening."
