Two held over Covent Garden Apple store smash-and-grab

A 16-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man have been arrested following a smash-and-grab raid at the Apple Store in Covent Garden, central London.

Police said up to 14 people turned up on mopeds and motorbikes at about 0100 BST, smashed a window and escaped with several iPads and other devices.

A moped thought to have been involved in the raid was found in St John Street, Clerkenwell, central London.

Two people were arrested at a block of flats nearby.

Detectives appealed for help from anyone who saw the suspects, who all wore full-face crash helmets, leaving the scene.

Police do not yet know the combined value of the goods stolen from the store but believe it could run into thousands of pounds.
