Fifth arrest over human remains found in Eltham garden

A fifth person has been arrested over the discovery of the remains of a man's body in the garden of a house in south-east London.

The 35-year-old man was detained on suspicion of murder after the remains were found in Lynsted Gardens, Eltham, by police on Sunday.

Three women and a man had previously been arrested. One woman, aged in her 40s, has since been bailed.

A post-mortem examination is due to be held at Greenwich Mortuary later.

The identity of the man whose body was discovered is still unknown.

Excavation work at the address is likely to last a number of days, the Metropolitan Police said.

Two women, one aged in her 60s and the other in her 40s, and a man in his 40s remain in custody at a south London police station.

They were arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
