London tower block fire tackled by crews
Dozens of residents have been evacuated from a tower block after a fire broke out in a flat on the 13th floor.
Crews were called to the 16-storey Fred Wigg Tower in Leytonstone, east London, at about 23:30 GMT on Monday.
Seventeen people were rescued by fire crews from the upper floors while another 60 were evacuated from other floors, London Fire Brigade said.
The fire was brought under control at about 01:00 GMT. A spokesman said everybody had been accounted for.
Some 12 appliances and up to 30 firefighters were involved in the operation, the brigade said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
