Police arrest hundreds in London in Operation Big Wing

Nearly 450 wanted criminals have been arrested in a "pre-Christmas purge" across London this week, the Metropolitan Police said.

People have been arrested in 32 boroughs for offences ranging from robbery and burglary to domestic violence.

They had failed to appear at court or had skipped police bail.

Operation Big Wing is the latest in a series of major, London-wide operations involving hundreds of officers.

Officers, police community support officers and specialist teams raided nearly 1,500 addresses, leading to the arrest of 444 people.

The majority of arrests were on Monday and Tuesday.
