Man dies after being hit by car on M25 near Heathrow

A man has died after being hit by a car on the M25 motorway near Heathrow Airport in west London.

The victim, believed to have been in his 20s, was knocked down between Junctions 15 and 14 on the anti-clockwise carriageway, police said.

He was thought to have spent an hour on the hard shoulder before he was hit by a VW Passat estate car, officers added.

The vehicle stopped at the scene. It is not clear why the victim had spent so long on the motorway.

Officers were called at about 07:20 GMT on Monday and the victim was airlifted to hospital, where he died just before 12:00 GMT.

He was described as being of Asian appearance, and was wearing a check-patterned shirt, blue jeans and black trainers, police said.

Police said they were trying to establish his identity.
