Man, 79, rescued from mud near Thames Battersea Bridge

Fire crews have rescued a 79-year-old man who became stuck in mud near London's Battersea Bridge.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it sent four fire engines and a fire boat to the bridge in west London just before 10:30 GMT.

London Ambulance Service said it treated the man, who was suffering from hypothermia, at the scene. He was taken to Chelsea and Westminster hospital.

Fire crews used an inflatable pathway to rescue the man.

A LFB spokesman said: "The river bank can be dangerous. Think before you walk."
