Man survives being shot in his face in Stoke Newington

A man has been shot in the face in north London.

Metropolitan Police said the victim, in his mid 40s, was in hospital being treated for gunshot wounds but was not in a life threatening condition.

Officers were called to the junction of Green Lanes and Burma Road in Stoke Newington just before 01:30 GMT on Wednesday morning.

No-one has been arrested and the incident is being investigated by Scotland Yard's new gang crime unit.

Green Lanes has been closed in both directions while police investigate.
