Metropolitan policeman guilty of headbutt attack

A police officer has been found guilty of assaulting a teenage passenger after stopping the vehicle's driver for using a mobile phone.

PC Karl Bartlett, 42, of the Territorial Support Group, was found guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court of common assault.

The court heard Lee Rosier, 24, and his 14-year-old passenger were pulled over near Hangar Lane on 1 March 2011.

Bartlett opened the car door, and headbutted the teenager.

Mr Rosier was driving home from a classic car rally in west London when the attack happened.

Bartlett will be sentenced on 2 April.

Fellow officers PC Anthony Read, 35, and PC Colin Nye, 37, were cleared of assault.

Scotland Yard said the officers remain on restricted duties and misconduct proceedings will be considered.
