Army horses led away after gas leak in Knightsbridge

Nearly 190 army horses had to be led from their barracks in central London after a gas leak.

The horses from the Household Calvary Regiment were taken into Hyde Park from their base in the area, the Ministry of Defence confirmed.

A hotel and several businesses were also evacuated after the gas leak which happened at early on Friday evening on Knightsbridge Road.

Heavy traffic was reported around Hyde Park corner due to the incident.

London Fire Brigade said the gas board was in attendance and looking at repairing the leak.

The horses have since returned to their barracks.
