Arrests after teenager found dead in Woodford Green

Five people have been arrested after a teenage boy was found dead on a road in north-east London.

Metropolitan Police said it was called to an area just off Chigwell Road, near Broadmead Fields in Woodford Green, late on Monday night.

The boy, thought to be aged 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. Although officers believe they know who he is, formal identification has not happened.

Four men, aged 19, 20, 26 and 29, and a 20-year-old woman have been arrested.

They are being held in custody at separate police stations in east London.

Police believe an altercation took place which led to the victim's death.

Officers said they would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious, in particular a blue Fiat Punto in Courtland Close or activity near the bridge in Chigwell Road, close to the Jet petrol station, between Sunday evening and Monday night.

A post-mortem examination is set to take place on Wednesday.
