Marble Arch victim was strangled

A man found dead at central London's Marble Arch was strangled, police have revealed.

Officers found Mark Morrison, 46, next to a public bench in the early hours of Thursday and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said at the time they believed he had been assaulted.

But a post-mortem examination has now given the cause of death as strangulation.

Police said they are trying to trace his next-of-kin.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating and have appealed for witnesses.

Det Ch Insp Nicola Wall said: "The body was found next to a bench under one of the arches at Marble Arch.

"He may have been killed at any point during the night, and we are urgently appealing for anyone who may have seen an altercation or anything suspicious in the vicinity to come forward."
