Kew Gardens reopens after woman killed by falling branch

The Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew has reopened after being closed because of severe weather warnings, a day after a woman died there.

The 32-year-old woman from New Zealand was killed by a falling tree branch at the gardens in south-west London during gusts of wind and heavy rain.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the death was being treated as non-suspicious.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out later.
