Metropolitan Police sergeant to face assault charges
A Metropolitan Police sergeant has been summonsed to appear in court over two charges of assault by beating.
Steven Rea, 39, who is based in Bexley, south east London, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
The officer is currently suspended from duty, the Met said.
The Met's directorate of professional standards launched a probe after CCTV was reviewed of a 14-year-old boy being taken into custody in October 2012.
Mr Rea was summonsed following that investigation.
