Tower Hamlets care home murder suspect charged

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after an 88-year-old woman was found dead at a care home in east London.

The woman was found by staff at Sonali Gardens on Sutton Street, in Tower Hamlets, on Friday.

Police said the youth, from Romford, is due to appear in custody at Stratford Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A 23-year-old man arrested in connection with the death has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police said the woman's next of kin have been informed, but police are awaiting formal identification. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
