Sex assault in Wimbledon campsite tent

A woman suffered a sexual assault in the campsite containing fans queuing for Wimbledon tickets.

The 34-year-old victim was attacked in Wimbledon Park, off Church Road in south-west London, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

A witness told the BBC the woman was attacked in a tent in the early hours of Sunday, the day of the men's singles final.

A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the attack.

The witness said his wife heard a woman say: "Have you had your fun? I'm calling 999."

His wife also heard a commotion and another man trying to help the victim.

Two tents were later taped off by the police, he added.

The arrested man has been bailed until early September, the Met said.
