Metropolitan Police officer found not guilty of rape
A Metropolitan Police constable has been cleared of raping a woman.
Errol Patterson, 52, of Leyton, east London, who serves at Lambeth police station, was found not guilty following a trial at Woolwich Crown Court.
The jury returned a unanimous verdict clearing him of raping the woman five times over a period from 2005 to 2011.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the force would make a decision on whether to begin its own disciplinary proceedings against the officer.
