Teens in court over rape of girl, 12, in Walthamstow

Two teenagers have appeared in court charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl in east London.

The girl was attacked at about 00:15 BST on 27 July at a secluded row of garages in Walthamstow.

The boys, both aged 17, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday. They cannot be named for legal reasons.

One was remanded in custody and the other was given bail. Both are due to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 21 August.

    Network Rail has issued Thames Water with a "multi-million pound bill" after leaks and a burst water main led to more than 1,000 trains being cancelled.

    Cancellations started on Friday with accumulated delays to other services of more than 133 hours.

    The St Pancras to Farringdon track was closed at 21:00 last night with no trains "until at least the end of service" today to resolve the issue, it said.
