Worst building award winner 'disfigures area'

Some of its windows face on to a brick wall and Islington Council thought it was so badly designed it refused it planning permission.

A student accommodation block of University College London has been bestowed the title of Worst Building of the Year from Building Design magazine.

Hank Dittmar, juror for the magazine's Carbuncle Cup, said it "disgraces and disfigures the neighbourhood".

Colum McGuire from the National Union of Students also appears in this report by Warren Nettleford.
