Shammi Atwal lorry death: Man charged with robbery

A man has been charged in connection with a robbery in which a father of two was killed by a lorry after chasing robbers from his cash-and-carry store.

Shammi Atwal confronted a gang armed with metal bars and a sledgehammer during the robbery on 14 October.

Farhan Sheikh, 38, of Barking, east London, will appear in court later charged with conspiracy to rob.

On Wednesday night another man, aged 25, was arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery.

Vidmantas Gonskoves, 26, of Plaistow, east London, and Aurimas Diliunas, 27, of Barking, appeared in court on Monday charged with manslaughter and robbery.

Mr Atwal was pronounced dead at the scene of the robbery at Glen & Co Cash & Carry in River Road in Barking.

The lorry driver was not arrested.
