RAF Bomber Command Memorial graffiti suspect charged

A man has been charged with scrawling graffiti about Fusilier Lee Rigby's death on a war memorial in London.

Daniel James Smith, of Grecian Street North, Salford, is accused of causing the damage to the RAF Bomber Command War Memorial, on 5 June.

The unemployed 21-year-old is due before Westminster magistrates on Friday.

The memorial was vandalised twice following the soldier's death in Woolwich, south-east London, on 22 May.

It was created to remember RAF crew who were killed in World War Two.
