Jury in Mark Hayes murder trial is discharged
The jury in the trial of a scaffolder accused of stabbing his younger brother to death after the funeral of another brother, has been discharged.
Mark Hayes, 53, is accused of murdering Sean Hayes, 48, hours after each held separate wakes for their brother Tommy.
Sean Hayes was stabbed with a carving knife outside his brother's Eltham Green Road home in south London.
The jury at the Old Bailey was discharged on Wednesday after failing to reach a verdict.
Peter Wright QC, prosecuting, said the death of Sean Hayes in April had followed "friction between members of the Hayes family and their extended families that led to violence between them".
Mark Hayes had denied a charge of murder.
