Murder charge over woman found stabbed in Ilford

A 20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman found stabbed in east London.

Mariana Popa was found in Ilford Lane, Ilford, near the junction with Loxford Lane, at 00:15 GMT on 29 October.

The 24-year-old, from Romania, had been stabbed in the chest, police said.

Farooq Shah of Station Road, Forest Gate, east London, has been charged with her murder and will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
