A gang of robbers have carried out a smash and grab raid at a central London jewellery store.

The robbery happened at Mappin and Webb jewellers in Regent Street at about 17:47 BST, the Metropolitan Police said.

"Three suspects made off from the store on foot," a spokesman for the force said. "We await details of the items stolen."

No-one was injured and no arrests have been made.
