Mother and daughter hit as car mounts kerb in north London

A mother and her baby daughter were hit by a car when it mounted the kerb in a north London street.

Both are said to be in a serious condition following the collision in Finsbury Park at 21:00 BST on Friday.

They were hit on Green Lanes by a Corsa whose driver fled the scene with a male passenger.

Two cars, the second a Seat Ibiza, are thought to have collided at the junction with Hermitage Road. Police said five men were in custody.

The Metropolitan Police said the injuries suffered by the woman, who has not been named, and her daughter who was in her pram, were not life-threatening.
