Murder arrest after injured man found at Newham cemetery

A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in hospital after being found with a neck injury at an east London cemetery.

Police were called on Wednesday afternoon to the City of London Cemetery, North Boundary Road, Newham.

Peter Charles John, 54, of Acton, was taken by air ambulance to hospital, where he later died.

The man who was arrested on Friday is in custody at a south London police station.

The Metropolitan Police is appealing for any witnesses. A post-mortem examination is still due to be held.
