Man held in historical Barnes school sex abuse probe

A 56-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating historical sex abuse at a private school in south-west London.

The man is the seventh person to be held by officers from Operation Winthorpe, which is investigating claims of sexual abuse and misconduct at St Paul's School in Barnes.

He was held on suspicion of sexual assault at a London police station.

The Met Police said he was bailed until September.

Former Colet Court classics master Anthony Fuggle, 57, from Sandy Lane, Surrey, has been charged in relation to Operation Winthorpe.

He was arrested in June and is due to appear at Kingston Crown Court in September charged with 11 offences of making indecent images of children and six counts of possessing indecent images of children.

Four other men, aged 61, 65, 67 and 68, and a 52-year-old woman have all been arrested in connection with allegations of sexual and indecent assaults.

They have been bailed until dates in September and October.
