A two-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in a supermarket car park in north-west London.

The girl's mother witnessed the crash at the Asda car park in Forty Lane, Wembley, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

The toddler was treated at the scene by paramedics but died later in hospital.

Officers said the driver of the car has not been arrested following the crash on Thursday night.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course and police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
