Private aircraft in take-off accident at Biggin Hill

A private plane has been involved in an accident on take-off from Biggin Hill Airport in Bromley, south-east London, London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said.

London Ambulance Service said it assessed eight people who were on board and a woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The airport's fire service removed them from the plane at about 20:20 GMT.

The airport and brigade crews were working to contain a fuel spill, LFB said.

A spokeswoman said 25 litres (five gallons) of fuel were spilt.

Six fire engines were originally sent to the scene.

The airport specialises in private aviation and flight instruction.
