Knifeman Tasered over attack on woman in Ilford

A man carrying a bag of weapons has been Tasered by police and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he attacked a woman with a knife.

Police said they were called to the attack in Ilford, east London, at about 22:45 GMT on Tuesday.

They found the man armed with the knife, and an officer fired a Taser gun before the suspect was detained.

The local woman - believed to be in her 40s - suffered knife wounds to her head and back and was taken to hospital.

'Weapon and blades'

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said the 43-year-old suspect was carrying a bag containing "a number of weapons and blades".

The suspect and the woman are not believed to have known each other.
