Thamesmead rapist threatened teenage victim with knife

A 17-year-old girl has been raped by a man who threatened her with a knife and dragged her into a "bin area".

The girl was on Binsey Walk in Thamesmead, south-east London, on Tuesday at about 19:30 GMT, when the man targeted her, the Met said.

He has been described as black, about 25 years old, of average build and about 5ft 8ins (1.7m) tall.

He had a London accent but the victim said he possibly was of African descent due to a number of phrases he used.

'Extremely brave'

He was wearing dark blue jeans and black Adidas trainers and had on a dark coat, which is described as being bulky, with a hood.

His face was partially covered by a black scarf, which may have had grey stripes. He was also carrying a black bag.

Det Insp Neal Burton, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim who has been extremely brave in coming forward to report the rape and assisting the investigation team, who are following every available investigative lead to identify and arrest her attacker as soon as possible."

Police have asked for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
