A girl has been charged with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed to death in an east London street.

Officers were called to Homerton High Street at about midnight on 7 January where Jeremie Malenge, 17, from Arcola Street, Hackney, was pronounced dead.

Scotland Yard said a 17-year-old girl from Hackney would appear before Stratford Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the Metropolitan Police's prior contact with the victim on the night of the attack.
