Five held after Lewisham 16th birthday stabbing and disorder

A man has been stabbed and five youths were arrested for public order offences at a 16th birthday party in south London.

Met Police were called to St Swithun's Road, in Lewisham at about 23:00 BST on Saturday.

A 23-year-old man suffered a stab wound to his side which is not thought to be life threatening.

Police said a group of around 50 people were causing "some disorder" and had to be dispersed by police helicopter.

A spokesman said: "Officers from Lewisham supported by the dogs unit and air support dispersed the group."

The five arrested are being held at a south London police station.
