Two arrested in London over links to Turkish terror group

Two people have been arrested in London over links to a Turkish terror group.

A man and a woman are being held in relation to the distribution of a terrorist publication and supporting a proscribed organisation.

They have been taken to a police station in south London and their homes are being searched.

The arrests relate to the terrorism movement the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party (DHKP-C).

Officers from Scotland Yard's Counter-Terrorism Command arrested the 45-year-old woman in north London earlier on Wednesday and the 49-year-old man later in east London.

The DHKP-C is part of a terrorist movement that has claimed responsibility for the deaths of police officers, soldiers and dozens of civilians since the late 1970s.

Two female members of the illegal party attacked a police station in the Bayrampasa district of Istanbul last month, leaving two police officers wounded and the two attackers dead.
